Students are pulling together to renovate Park Cabin. They are raising money to remove the asbestos tiles from the floors, replace the doors and windows, fix water damage, and fund other efforts to restore the cabin.
This Friday, March 22, students will team up with a group of volunteers from the Carpenter’s Guild for a work- day on the cabin. Students will be able to learn repairing skills and how to help restore the cabin.
The workday will run from 8:30 a.m. til 4:30 p.m., and the work time slots will be two hours. Volunteers can sign up for a two-hour slot online at the link that is available on the Facebook event page.
There will also be snacks provided and a noon meal that the Carpenter’s Guild, staff and faculty, and student volunteers are all invited to. The invita- tion is open for anyone who wants to help work at the cabin.
“We are extremely grateful for the Guild’s willingness to partner with students to repair the cabin. In particular, guild members Earl Martin and Emory
Yoder and Physical Plant employees Ed Leaman, Tony Brenneman, and Eldon Kurtz have greatly helped in the planning stages of this upcoming work day,” mentions Senior Erika Babikow, one of the eight students who are lead- ing this effort to save Park cabin.
There are still time slots available for any students who may be interest- ed in volunteering to help.
