D.C. in the cold?

So I just got back from a field trip with one of our Colloquia classes at EMU, and I have to say that going to D.C. is only truly fun when you can feel your hands and feet while outside.
While the cold was rather intense this week, we still had fun, and I got to experience riding on the Metro for the first time. Not all that exciting for most people I’m sure, but it was something I’d never done before and having friends from my class to hang out with on there during our ride made it more enjoyable.
I’ve gotten to see a lot of plays this semester, particularly with this class. The one we saw in D.C. was Honey Brown Eyes, which centered around the events happening in Bosnia and Serbia at the time of the conflict. It was pretty emotional, and I feel like these sorts of stories about people trying to do what’s right under completely not-right circumstances affect me on the deepest level. That’s probably why I find things like JPCS and Social Justice courses at EMU so intriguing. I hope that whatever career I end up choosing beyond college, I will be able to affect the world and be able to help people in situations like those I saw portrayed in the play.
