“The Role of Music in Peace and Conflict” – Dr. Joan Griffing

Dr.  Joan Griffing offers a presentation on her 12-13 sabbatical entitled, “The role of Music in Peace and Conflict.” Griffing chairs EMU’s Music Department where she teaches violin and viola, coaches chamber music and conducts the EMU orchestra.

Faculty/Staff Conference – Leonard Dow: “Waiting as an Act of Compassion”

Pastor Leonard Dow continues to engage themes of compassion  in this year’s annual Faculty/Staff Conferenc.  The theme comes from the phrase “serve with compassion” from the Eastern Mennonite University mission statement.  Dow is pastor at Oxford Circle Mennonite Church in Philadelphia, PA. He graduated from EMU in 1987.

Faculty and Staff gather to begin the new year together with the annual Faculty/Staff Fall Conference.  Provost Fred Kniss and emcee/Director of Athletics Dave King offer words of welcome and orientation to the theme “Serving with Compassion.”  Ken J. Nafziger leads  the opening time of worship together.

Spring Nurses’ Pinning Ceremony

The Spring semester nursing graduates chose Dr. Beryl Brubaker, retiring EMU provost, to offer a prayer and words of encouragement. Three graduating Nurses share reflections, and Nursing coordinator Laura Esch emcees the pinning ceremony.
