I'm humbled that you read and appreciated this article, Russell. Thank you! Restorative justice holds a significant place in my journey, so it was a joy to write this paper/article, and even more so now that you've responded.

Yes, taking responsibility (one of the "three R's of RJ from Howard Zehr) doesn't mean we ignore the ways in which we have been victims of circumstance to a degree, or that those circumstances are erased, but it does help us redeem those circumstances in transformative ways.

Thanks again, Russell!

Brian,
Well done! You did a superb analysis and comparison in this article. I appreciate the fact that you saw that I was also a victim... of circumstance.
Of course, that does not justify or excuse my bad behavior. I did make poor choices and made the right decision to meet my victims, repair the harm, and learn a valuable lesson in humanity. I never damaged another person's property after that!

Sincerely,
Russ Kelly
