A new agreement with Temple University’s School of Podiatric Medicine guarantees admission to two qualifying graduates of Eastern Mennonite University’s MA in Biomedicine program. Temple’s Foot & Ankle Institute is “one of the largest podiatric medical treatment facility anywhere,” according to their website.
“This agreement with Temple is exciting because it’s guaranteeing two spots to our biomedicine students in their program each year, as long as our students meet the required metrics,” says Professor Julia Halterman, co-director of the program. “It’s a big deal for our program and our students. Not many professional health schools guarantee spots like this.”
Conditions include
- meeting Temple University’s coursework , grades and standardized test admissions criteria;
- attaining a 3.3 graduate GPA from EMU; and
- scoring in the top 45th percentile on the Medical College Admissions Test (MCAT).
Emeritus professor Dr. Roman Miller, who formerly directed the MA in Biomedicine program, initiated the agreement last year. After his retirement, “I continued the relationship and saw the agreement to completion this year,” says Halterman.
EMU’s MA in Biomedicine program also has existing admissions agreements with the Edward Via College of Osteopathic Medicine, the Southern College of Optometry, the University of Pikeville-Kentucky College of Optometry, and Mary Baldwin University’s Murphy Deming College of Health Sciences.
