Children’s Choirs Set Spring Concerts

a close-up of three girls singing in SVCCThe Shenandoah Valley Children’s Choir will hold its spring concerts at the Bridgewater Church of the Brethren, 420 College View Drive.

The program will be presented 7 p.m. Saturday, Mar. 20, and again 3 p.m. Sunday, Mar. 21, and will feature 150 children in the Preparatory, Treble and Concert choirs.

Directors Julia White and Joy Anderson will lead the choirs in a variety of individual and solo selections as well as solfege demonstrations.Choral selections will include Australian, Chinese, Swahili, Scottish and American folk music as well as music by Bach and jazz composer Vijay Singh.

Principal accompanists will be Maurita Eberly, pianist, and John W. Fast, organist.

Tickets are $10 for adults, $8 for seniors and students and $5 for children under 12. Tickets can be reserved by calling the SVCC office at 540-432-4650 and will also be available at the door.

The concerts will open a week of special activities and programs leading up to inauguration ceremonies on Mar. 27 for Dr. Loren Swartzentruber as the eighth president of Eastern Mennonite University.
