About my sabbatical
What an opportunity. I will be spending the 2009-2010 academic year as a Fulbright scholar in Lithuania. I will teach several photography, film and culture and religious art classes at LCC International University. I will also be assisting them consider how to add a communication concentration as part of their offerings. The students are excited about learning and I look forward to be with them on the journey of learning for the next year. As part of this learning environment I plan to learn to paint(write) Icons within the Orthodox faith tradition.
I want to thank two publishers for providing the textbooks for the classes I am teaching. Focal Press (Elsevier) donated texts for all of my photography classes (this includes a number of reference books for in the library). Baker Books donated texts and several auxiliary books for the Film and Culture class. I use both publishers books regularly at EMU and was very pleased that I could bring the same high quality books to the students here at LCC.
I also want to thank CIES and the Fulbright for funding this chance to teach and learn in Lithuania for the year. This blog will showcase much of what I experience and do.
Come back often to see photos and reflections. Of course you must remember that I will spend more time here teaching and learning than I will on the blog.
