Mark,
Thanks for posting this essay here. I have not read this book by Leithart but I have enjoyed reading what you have to say about it. Lately I have been reading the Jewish-Christian Schism Revisted and I have been taking in the critiques of Peter Ochs. I have just read Och's chapter on Yoder in his book "Another Reformation: Postliberal Christianity and the Jews" and I am wondering if you see similarities between Leithar's and Och's objections to Yoder. I wonder if the scandal of the cross is at the heart of the matter for both. Because of Yoder's "valorizing" of the Jeremaic model of Judaism and Yoder's framing of Jesus within this model, Ochs consider's Yoder a be "non-nonsupersessionist". What I think is at the root of naming Yoder a "non-supersessionist" is the reality that the Jermaic model of Judaism ends up being the same critque on ancient Maccabean Israel and mondern day Zionism that Yoder has leveled on the Constantinian Church and Ochs perhaps doesn't like that. I am not sure if I am reading that correclty or not. If I am, however, it seems that it is perhaps similar to Leithart's objection to Yoder's Constantinian critique of the Church.

Thanks again for the blog!

In the spirit of taking this conversation from AAR last fall to the digital realm, it's probably good to connect this paper/post with Leithart's response on his own blog:
