About Us

Why English? Why Us?

IEP students and teacher

What’s the key to a successful future? More and more, it’s language — specifically the ability to speak, write and understand English.

If you want to work in international business, do scientific research, bring peace in situations of global conflict, save the planet or simply study overseas, you’ll probably have to do it in English.

IEP — the Intensive English Program at EMU — can help. We’ll teach you the English skills you’ll need in your future career, not just a few tricks to pass an entrance exam.

We’ll also help you to understand the North American academic setting and its rules and expectations — some of which may be different from what you’re used to in your home country.

Students who successfully complete Levels 5 and 6 and then enroll at EMU for an undergraduate degree may receive 15 semester hours of credit. There is also an option for higher level students to study part-time at IEP and part-time at EMU undergraduate level in the "Step Up" program.

Because we’re small, we can give you personal attention that you won’t get at a big school. You’ll be a person, not a number.

And you can learn on a campus where international students and world experience are valued. Our approach grows out of the Mennonite tradition that emphasizes peacemaking, service and community.

We invite you to join us and our students from around the globe. We’ll help you to reach your goals, and together we’ll work to build a better world.
