CJP student Thomas Garnett will speak on “Designing and implementing violence prevention and intervention program for inner city schools in Richmond Virginia: From the lens of a West African-African American.”

Thomas worked with the Richmond Peace Education Center to design outreach programs and workshops for inner city schools in Richmond, Va. The program teaches young people new ways of resolving disputes without resorting into violence, physical or verbal. Some areas of focus are mediation, listening skills, understanding and accepting diversity, teamwork and youth empowerment.
