Minority Religions in Iran
The great majority of Iranians are Shia Muslims. However, there are other minority religious communities in Iran. These include Christians, Jews, Zorastrians, Bahai, and Sunni Muslims. Some of these are recognized in the constitution of Iran and have representation in parliament. Others are not legally recognized as religious communities. Some face varying degrees of discrimination and hardship. On Wednesday evening, November 13th, Dr. Amir Akrami, Visiting Scholar from Iran, (who is a Shia Muslim), will make a presentation about these varied religious communities and answer questions. We hope that there will be some representatives of some of these communities present.
