Elaine Zook Barge

Elaine Zook Barge is the director of Strategies for Trauma Awareness and Resilience, an integrated training program of the Center for Justice and Peacebuilding. During the 1980s and 1990s she worked in El Salvador, Nicaragua and Guatemala with Mennonite Central Committee. In her work with communities in conflict zones, Zook Barge experienced firsthand violence, conflict, poverty, and resilience. The past decade, she has provided STAR trainings, workshops and consultations to individuals and organizations working with trauma-impacted populations in the US, Africa, Asia, the Caribbean and Latin American who want to bring a trauma-informed perspective to their work. Zook Barge holds an MA in conflict transformation from Eastern Mennonite University’s Center for Justice and Peacebuilding.
