Thomas Jones


Thomas Jones, baritone, appears with orchestras, opera companies, choral ensembles, pops concerts and on recital series throughout North America and in Europe. Critics have hailed his performances as elegant, passionate, expressive and sensitive. Buell of The Boston Globe calls his vocal and stage presence “irresistible”. Tommasini of The New York Times proclaims that Mr. Jones sings “with plush sounds and musical vigor”.

Solo appearances include Santa Fe Symphony,  Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra, San Francisco’s Philharmonia Baroque Orchestra, Boston’s Handel & Haydn Society, Apollo Chorus of Chicago,  San Francisco City Chorus, Vancouver Chamber Choir, Canadian Broadcast Orchestra,  Phoenix Bach Choir,  New York’s St. Cecilia Orchestra, Baltimore Choral Arts, Omaha Symphony, Pacific Symphony (Southern California), Battle Creek Symphony (Michigan), Billings Symphony (Montana), Louisville Bach Society and Masterworks Chorus of Washington, DC. Summer festivals include Saratoga, Berkshire Choral, Great Waters (New Hampshire), Shenandoah Valley Bach Festival and Monadnock Music. Opera companies include Boston Lyric,  Harrisburg Opera of Pennsylvania and Opera New England.  2010-11 performances include Boston Civic Orchestra, Cape Cod Symphony, Worcester Symphony, New England Classical Singers, Martha’s Vineyard Chamber Music Society, Handel Society of Dartmouth College and many recital appearances in the US. 
 
Mr. Jones has soloed with over 150 choruses, working with notable maestros including Christopher Hogwood, Nicholas McGegan, John Alexander, Jon Washburn, Daniel Beckwith, Joel Revzen, Robert Page and Tom Hall. He has premiered works by Libby Larson, Dave Brubeck and John Goodman. Recordings include Handel “Messiah” (National Public Radio) and Handel “Samson” (Canadian Broadcast Orchestra and  Vancouver Chamber Choir.)

Thomas Jones is an accomplished voice teacher and choral clinician, conducting master classes and clinics throughout the US at colleges, high schools, community, church and professional choruses.  He has adjudicated at dozens of solo competitions and festivals. Thomas Jones teaches voice through the Office for the Arts at Harvard University.
