David Wick has served as principal horn of the Virginia Symphony since 1981. He is also principal horn of the Virginia Opera Association and the Shenandoah Valley Bach Festival. As soloist with the symphony he has performed the Concertos and Sinfonia Concertante of Mozart, the Koncertstuck for Four Horns and Orchestra by Robert Schumann, Frank Martin’s Concerto for Seven Winds and Percussion, Britten’s Serenade for Tenor, Horn and Strings, and Kenneth Fuchs’ Canticle to the Sun. He has also performed at the Skaneateles Festival, and for seventeen summers was a member of the Eastern Philharmonic Orchestra at the Eastern Music Festival in Greensboro, North Carolina. Mr. Wick earned degrees from the University of Iowa and Indiana University, where he studied with Paul G. Anderson and Philip Farkas.

He is currently on the faculty of the College of William & Mary.
