Bach Festival 2010

Our 18th season took place June 13-20, 2010!

Versatile folk musician John McCutcheon was featured with festival musicians during the 18th annual event in performances of his own music. Award-winning singer, songwriter, composer, teacher, archivist, activist, author and poet, McCutcheon added a special touch to this year’s festival.

Vocal soloists Anne Gross, Heidi Kurtz, Joel Ross and James Richardson were showcased under the capable leadership of artistic director and conductor Kenneth J. Nafziger. Marvin Mills, organist and assistant choir director, was once again an integral part of the week’s festivities.

Audiences enjoyed exciting concerts with music by Johann Sebastian Bach, John McCutcheon, Wilhelm Friedemann Bach, Samuel Barber, Fryderyk Chopin, Osvaldo Golijov, Gustav Mahler, Robert Schumann and others.

The 2010 season’s highlights included three Festival Concerts, six noon-time chamber music concerts, the beloved Sunday morning Leipzig Service, the Virginia Baroque Performance Academy, Elderhostel/Exploritas, and youth programs.

2011 Festival dates are: June 12-19.
