The Shenandoah Valley Bach Festival's Sixteenth Season
June 8-15, 2008
The Bach Festival's sixteenth season highlighted string music with internationally acclaimed artists Eugene Friesen and Michael Partington and the festival orchestra and choir.
Music lovers experienced Friesen's unusual Cello Man show, geared for audiences of all ages, and heard several of his unique original compositions, and Partington's lyrical and engaging guitar performances of concertos by Rodrigo and Castelnuovo-Tedesco were thrilling.
The Ginastera harp concerto and works by Vaughan Williams added to the charm of the 2008 festival, which showcased a variety of string music, the music of Bach and other composers, and solo and chamber works. Under the direction of Kenneth J. Nafziger, there were many exciting surprises for the audience and musicians alike.
