Why I chose EMU
After I attended a small two-year college in Hesston, Kansas I was really looking for a place that displayed the same kind of community I found at my last college. I wanted a place I could call my new home and a place where I could make life-long memories, but also a place that had more than only two gas stations and three restaurants. I road-tripped it from Kansas to EMU with four of my friends and EMU helped pay for our gas: 2,400 miles! After my visit, the entire 18 hours on the way back were filled with conversation on how much we enjoyed the college. Everything from the community, location, activities, academics and a competitive ultimate league were reasons that led all four of us to attend EMU that next year!
My favorite EMU memories
I was adopted from South Korea when I was five months old and EMU gave me the chance to return to South Korea on a summer cross-cultural trip after my junior year. I traveled all over Korea, learned about my heritage and spent time with amazing friends.
Favorite things to do in the Shenandoah Valley
All of the restaurants! It’s so green here compared to the desert of Fresno, California where I grew up. There’s also great fishing, and Washington, D.C. is only two hours away.
What some of my EMU friends are up to
Two friends are working for Life Cents: one in Washington, D.C. as a tech worker and one in Fresno, California as a businessman. I have friends that are nurses, and one is a school counselor for the local elementary school. I also have a number of friends traveling and serving around the world.
